Thanks for visiting guydrake.com! This website is devoted to the music of our band, "Out Among 'em," which includes Chris Mulkey and JR Hartley, plus a bunch of other talented guest players. We're based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, although only two-thirds of the band lives here. Chris lives in Venice, CA. Chris' mom, Peg, however, lives in St. Paul, and, being a good son, he's here all the time in the Twin Cities visiting her. While he's here, we record new music, perform live at the Baja Riverside Bar on the West Bank, and drink beer and Maker's Mark and discuss critical philosophical, political, and business issues at the Monte Carlo in downtown Minneapolis until the wee hours of the morning. This has been going on for as many years as we've been friends, which is a lot, but I can't say how many because it would make us seem old, which we are. Another way of putting it is to say that we have been good friends since I was fifteen.

Chris, JR Hartley, and I have been working on our CD, "Out Among 'em," for the last three or four years as time has permitted, and we've somehow found a way to blend together our styles of writing and performing, and have discovered the enlightenment of collaboration. All of this would never have happened without the tremendous musical talents of Chris and JR, and the patient and easygoing attitude of everyone involved along the way. This whole project has been built around finding ways to keep the music exciting and compelling, and working with talented individuals in a climate of mutual respect and good-natured fun.

Please take a moment to listen to some of the MP3 song samples, and to check out the rest of our website. Sign the guest book, too, while you're at it, and let me know if you are another old friend from the Johnson and Drake days, the Dale Carnegie business, or any other connection we may have. Buy the CD, too, as long as you're here, and a T-shirt when we get them.

And remember, please get out and volunteer somewhere. Feed the homeless, visit the prisoners, teach a Sunday School class, or adopt a highway. Your wheel of life will be more in balance, and it will make you feel a lot better about everything.

All the Best,
Guy
